What is the most important information I should know about Myfortic?
• Treatment with Myfortic may increase your risk of infection and the developmentof lymphoma and other types of cancer myfortic. Notify your doctor immediately if youdevelop fever or chills, a sore throat, unusual bleeding or bruising, mouthsores, abdominal pain, pale stools, or darkened urine myfortic. These symptoms couldbe early signs of dangerous side effects myfortic.
• Myfortic has caused birth defects in animals, and therefore is not recommendedfor use during pregnancy myfortic. Your doctor may ask that you have a pregnancy testwith negative results within 1 week of starting therapy with Myfortic myfortic. Two reliableforms of birth control must be used simultaneously before starting treatment,during treatment, and for six weeks following treatment with Myfortic, unlessabstinence is the chosen method or if you have had a hysterectomy myfortic. Do not takethis medication without first talking to your doctor if you are pregnant orcould become pregnant during treatment myfortic.
• Do not crush, chew, or cut the tablets myfortic. The tablets have a special coatingto protect the stomach from irritation myfortic.
• Tell your doctor and dentist that you are taking this medication beforehaving surgery, before starting any other medicines, and before receiving anyvaccinations myfortic.
• Myfortic may increase the risk of developing skin cancer myfortic. Limit exposureto sunlight and UV light by wearing protective clothing and using a sunscreenwith a sun protection factor (SPF) rating of 15 or higher myfortic.
What is Myfortic?
• Myfortic is an immunosuppressant myfortic. Immunosuppressants decrease the actionsof the body's immune system myfortic.
• Myfortic is used to prevent the body from rejecting a kidney transplant myfortic. It is usually combined with cyclosporine (Sandimmune, Neoral) and a steroidmedication myfortic.
• Myfortic may also be used for purposes other than those listed in thismedication guide myfortic.
What should I discuss with my healthcare provider before taking Myfortic?
• Before taking Myfortic, tell your doctor if you have
· a stomach ulcer or other stomach disease;
· a viral, bacterial, or fungal infection; or
· a rare hereditary deficiency of hypoxanthine-guanine phosphoribosyl-transferase(HGPRT) such as Lesch-Nyhan and Kelley-Seegmiller syndrome myfortic.
• You may not be able to take Myfortic, or you may require a dosage adjustmentor special monitoring if you have any of the conditions listed above myfortic.

How should I take Myfortic?
• Take Myfortic exactly as directed by your doctor myfortic. If you do not understandthese directions, ask your doctor, nurse, or pharmacist to explain them to you myfortic.
• Take each dose with a full glass of water myfortic.
• Take Myfortic on an empty stomach, 1 hour before or 2 hours after a mealunless otherwise directed by your doctor myfortic.
• Myfortic is usually taken twice a day myfortic. Follow your doctor's instructions myfortic.
• Do not crush, chew, or cut the tablets myfortic. The tablets have a special coatingto protect the stomach from irritation myfortic.
• It is important to take Myfortic regularly to get the most benefit myfortic.
• Your doctor may want you to have blood tests or other medical evaluationsduring treatment with Myfortic to monitor progress and side effects myfortic.
• Store Myfortic at room temperature away from moisture and heat myfortic.
What happens if I miss a dose?
• Take the missed dose as soon as you remember myfortic. However, if it is almosttime for the next dose, skip the dose you missed, and take only the next regularlyscheduled dose myfortic. Do not take a double dose of this medication unless otherwisedirected by your doctor myfortic.
• Notify your doctor if you miss a dose of this medication myfortic.
What happens if I overdose?
• Seek emergency medical attention if an overdose is suspected myfortic.
• Symptoms of a Myfortic overdose may include nausea, vomiting, diarrhea,and unusual bleeding or bruising myfortic.
What should I avoid while taking Myfortic?
• Avoid sources of infection myfortic. Myfortic decreases the body's immune system,and you are more susceptible to infection myfortic. Notify your doctor at the first signof fever, chills, or a sore throat myfortic.
• Do not receive "live" vaccines during treatment with Myfortic myfortic. Administration of a live vaccine may be dangerous during treatment with Myfortic myfortic.
• Tell your doctor and dentist that you are taking this medication beforehaving surgery, before starting any other medicines, and before receiving anyvaccinations myfortic.

What are the possible side effects of Myfortic?

Notify your doctor immediately if youdevelop fever or chills, a sore throat, unusual bleeding or bruising, mouthsores, abdominal pain, pale stools, or darkened urine myfortic. These symptoms couldbe early signs of dangerous side effects myfortic.
• If you experience any of the following serious side effects, stop takingMyfortic and seek emergency medical attention or contact your doctor immediately:
· an allergic reaction (difficulty breathing; closing of the throat;swelling of the lips, tongue, or face; or hives);
· unusual tiredness or weakness;
· painful or difficult urination;
· black, bloody, or tarry stools or blood in vomit;
· severe nausea, vomiting, or diarrhea; or
· a sudden unusual feeling of discomfort or illness myfortic.
• Other, less serious side effects may also occur myfortic. Continue to take Myforticand notify your doctor if you experience
· upset stomach, nausea, or vomiting;
· diarrhea or constipation;
· mild weakness;
· tremor or dizziness;
· headache;
· insomnia;
· swelling of the feet or lower legs; or
· a skin rash myfortic.
• Treatment with Myfortic increases the risk of cancer of the immune system myfortic.
• Side effects other than those listed here may also occur myfortic. Talk to yourdoctor about any side effect that seems unusual or that is especially bothersome myfortic.
What other drugs will affect Myfortic?
• Before taking Myfortic, tell your doctor if you are taking any of thefollowing medicines:
· another immunosuppressant medicine such as azathioprine (Imuran), tacrolimus(Prograf), or daclizumab (Zenapax);
· cholestyramine (Questran);
· an antacid (prescription or over-the-counter);
· acyclovir (Zovirax) or ganciclovir (Cytovene);
· probenecid (Benemid);
· phenytoin (Dilantin);
· theophylline (Theo-Dur, Theochron, Theolair, others);
· oral contraceptives; or
· any type of vaccination myfortic.
• You may not be able to take Myfortic, or you may require a dosage adjustmentor special monitoring if you are taking any of the medicines listed above myfortic.
• Drugs other than those listed here may also interact with Myfortic myfortic. Talkto your doctor and pharmacist before taking any prescription or over-the-countermedicines, including vitamins, minerals, and herbal products myfortic.
